Target Division Street
Details
This Target store in Chicago, Illinois is a great example of innovative precast concrete work. The precast structure consists of first level parking with second floor retail with an expansive escalator system along Division Street. The project was designed to have interior truck docks to eliminate traffic stoppage Division Street. This interior required that the trucks be able to pass under the retail level and a 15’ 0” clearance was provided and required long span double TT’s (100’) and transfer beams to accommodate this design.
The second level retail floor consists of double TT’s. The exterior panels are architectural panels with embedded thin brick along Division and Larrabee Streets and gray form finish for the back of house areas. Due to the truck traffic within the building footprint there are numerous conditions that required stacked spandrel panels. Other precast products include: solid slabs, precast beams/columns, and stair and elevator cores.
This building was erected in phases utilizing the same crane for steel erection since the second floor columns were steel and the roof structure was standard joist and deck. We worked on this project with Novak Construction, and designer, RSP Architects. This building was erected by Waubonsee Development.
